Everyone goes to Table Mountain, and rightfully so, but those “in the know” venture over to Lions Head (grab an Uber), the beautiful peak that divides downtown Cape Town from Camps Bay. The walkway is safe and easy and boasts unobstructed views of the waterfront, Table Mountain, Camps Bay and all the majesty of Cape Town.
Go On A Big Game Safari…
Though most proper safaris depart from the Johannesburg area, Cape Town has incredible game parks within a couple hours, offering full viewing of the “big five” game animals. Aquila Game Reserve is a consummate favorite and there are countless other top places to explore. It just wouldn’t be a trip to South Africa without seeing some incredible “big game”, and this is a great option if you don’t have time to visit multiple cities…
Drink! Visit Cape Town Wine Country…
South Africa is famous for a lot of things, but their wine is superstar-icon level. If a beautiful glass of Pinotage, Sauvignon Blanc or an incredible red blend sounds just right, you simply must visit Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, the gorgeous, mountainous countryside surrounding Cape Town. It’s only about an hour away and features great food to accompany the wine!
Beach Bum It In Camps Bay…
It’s not a vacation until you’ve put your bathing suit on. Camps Bay offers an iconic stretch of beach, complete with dramatic mountain peaks as a backdrop. Oh no, it doesn’t stop there. The street running along the beach is lined with bars, cafes and shops to keep you busy in between catching some waves… or zzzz’s.
Fine Dining At Top 50 Restaurants On The Cheap!…
Cape Town boasts two restaurants which are regularly found in the World Top 50 Restaurant Guide. Thanks to an unfortunately dwindled local currency, visitors are able to experience a feast for the eyes and senses without having to report a theft of their wallet afterward. Check out the Test Kitchen or La Colombe. Inventive, brilliant food with exceptional quality and elegance, without the price gouge.
Cable Car Up Table Mountain Above The Clouds…
As a rule of thumb, any opportunity to experience life above the clouds is worth taking. Even though lines can be long- Table Mountain is absolutely a must. Grab a taxi or Uber (which is great in Cape Town, by the way) up to the entrance and enjoy the dramatic cable car ride into the clouds. The views are something you’ll never forget, guaranteed.
Shop Local At The Watershed…
The V&A Waterfront is a beautiful (albeit) touristy area in the heart of Cape Town, chock full of shops, restaurants and attractions. If you want to avoid the total tourist scams by the water, a short walk over to the “Watershed” is a great look. Next to the aquarium you’ll find a large space with more than 325 local merchants selling goods. Far less tat than other locations. There’s even a Truth Coffee nearby, Cape Towns’ iconic coffee shop.

Woodstock was once a no go area for tourists- or anyone who hoped to return with their shirt and or wallet. It’s now home to some of the cities finest restaurants, independent shopping boutiques and completing the perfect hipster trifecta- the very best art galleries. You’ll find internationally renowned stars up against local up and coming artists, representing a distinct South African flare. Don’t let the trendy hipsters scare you, they’re just trying to fit in.
