Who wouldn’t want more Avios?

Many airlines made their loyalty programs more difficult during the pandemic, but British Airways chose instead to make some fantastic, user friendly changes.

For a start, there’s more seats using points available on each and every flight, which British Airways guarantees for people hoping to use Avios

There’s now at least four ‘Club World’ business class seats using Avios guaranteed on all long haul flights, up from two, and on many other British Airways flights there are 8 seats guaranteed using points!

That just leaves one issue: having enough points. Fortunately, there’s one of the best ever bonuses when you buy Avios, with 50% extra regardless of how many points you buy, making topping off more lucrative than usual.

50% Bonus On Avios Purchases

British Airways is offering a 50% bonus on Avios purchases, which helps bring the cost of buying points and topping up an account down significantly.

Avios can bring huge value for upgrading from Premium Economy to ‘Club World’ Business Class, and also for making Avios bookings outright to places near and far. I’ve recently used them for flights to Greece, as well as upgrading long haul flights to first class.

If you’ve got a British Airways companion voucher, paying a little bit to top off your Avios can make lots of sense, since it can take both you and your companion further, and in better style!

For two weeks, until August 30th, British Airways is offering an exclusive bonus on Avios purchases. Unlike previous sales, where you needed to buy a lot of points to fully benefit, even purchasing the lowest amount of 1,000 points earns the 50% bonus.

Should You Buy Avios Points?

I am a big fan of collecting as many points as possible, because I can just about always find ways to spend them. Topping up Avios can create more opportunity to fly first class, rather than business class, or take the whole family for less, rather than just fly solo.

In times where travel planning can be challenging, Avios can actually be a great way to book, as well. Seats are available 355 days in advance, and your Avios don’t expire if you purchase, collect or spend at least 1 Avios every 36 months!

Avios bookings can also be cancelled for a modest £35 fee, provided they are cancelled at least 24 hours in advance of travel. This is far more flexible than many other ways to book, allowing you to dream big, without the worry.

  1. Hi Gilbert

It seems the link to buy avios isn’t working, its not the link though its BA, as if you access the purchase avios tab via the Exec Club site it doesnt work either, coming up with a “page not found” message.

    Any ideas?
