The Chase Freedom Flex Card is the card you may not know you need, but you really might. It’s a no annual fee card with significant benefits, including 5X on travel, 3X on restaurants and take out – and for a limited time, also 5X on groceries.
Hint, there’s just a few more days on this offer.
When it comes to earning cash back, there just really aren’t many – if any – better no annual fee cards, and if you have other Chase Cards, like the Sapphire Preferred or Sapphire Reserve cards, the points or cash back become even more valuable, as they become transferrable to airline miles or hotel points.
If maximizing groceries matters to you, this is also the last week to earn 5X with the card for a year on up to $12,000 in groceries, before the limited time offer goes away.
Chase Freedom Flex Limited Time Offer
With travel still a question mark for many people, no annual fee rewards credit cards which offer the flexibility to earn cash back to offset daily spending are a clever play. No annual fee means less of an equation in figuring out whether to keep a card, and when you grab one that earns as well as many premium cards costing $550 a year in annual fees, it’s a win.
If you also happen to hold the Chase Sapphire Preferred, or Chase Sapphire Reserve Card, you can still use the Chase Freedom Flex for real cash back you can even deposit into your checking account, but your points are also able to transfer into points with hotels or airlines, via Chase Ultimate Rewards.
This can even increase their value, if you want to use them toward travel. The standout feature of the Chase Freedom Flex is earning more points than other cards on a variety of categories, where most cards only earn 1X or 2X, like…
- 5X points or 5% cash back on travel booked via Chase Travel.
- 5X points up to $1500 in spend on rotating bonus categories like PayPal, etc.
- 3x points or 3% cash back on restaurants and takeout.
- 3x points or 3% cash back on US drug store purchases.
But for a limited time, which is precisely why this offer matters now, Chase is throwing something else in, in addition to the $200 welcome bonus, after just $500 in spending. And yes, you really are looking at a card which rewards you with $200 back, after spending just $500 to start within the first 3 months.
Until January 13th, the Chase Freedom Flex is offering a limited time 5X on groceries, for up to $12,000 in spending in your first year. If maxed out, this would mean $600 in cash back earnings, or 60,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards Points, if you have one of the Chase Sapphire cards mentioned above.
That’s gotta be it, in terms of benefits for a no annual fee card – right? Wrong. The Chase Freedom Flex also includes cell phone protection up to $800 per claim, trip delay reimbursement, and secondary rental car collision insurance, among others.
Really, this is a fabulous card – which with no annual fee – may deserve a place in your wallet. For what it’s worth, it’s in mine. Earning a bonus of $200 back on just $500 in spending within 3 months is superb, but the long term earning benefits, particularly if you apply in time to earn the grocery benefit in the first year make this a gem.
For Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card holders, this is the perfect complement to maximizing rewards on every category of spend, and racking up amazing travel faster.
“In your first year”…If you didn’t get the card until October last year then the 5x on groceries should still be valid even after Jan 13…?
I believe the definition is rolling 12 months from sign up, provided you sign up before the offer pull.
