Update: this promotion has now ended.
A few days ago, we launched our Black Friday & Cyber Monday Travel Guide. In it, we snuck a little gem, in the form of buy one get one offers from Blade, the company bringing Uber Black prices to helicopter service. Unlike an Uber Black, the service offers helicopter rides which take 7 minutes from take off to touchdown between NYC and JFK, Newark or LaGuardia – or vice versa. The same goes for LAX and hotspots like Downtown, Burbank and more.
Blade is offering buy one, get a companion, and if you stack a promo code, it takes the grand total price to $72.50 per person, if you book for two. The novelty is worth it alone, let alone the 7 minute ride to the airport…
The Offer
Today is “Blade Friday”. That means for today, and only today, Blade is offering a buy one get one free offer on their phenomenal airport transfer service, via helicopter. The promotion allows you to give the service a whirl in New York, or Los Angeles, provided you’re traveling by the end of the year.
I’ll be honest, I couldn’t resist paying to give it a go earlier this year, and I am now fully hooked. What makes this promo even sweeter, is rather than just a standard “buy one get one” at the $195 price, if it’s your first time, you can use a welcome code to take another $50 off, bringing the total price down to $145 for two when you go to buy!
If you use code GilbertO187 when you sign up for the app (it’s free to download), you’ll find $50 off your next ride automatically. You can then apply BLADEFRIDAY in the promo code at checkout, and voila. iOS app download: http://apple.co/18Vncsf. Android app download: http://bit.ly/1FgaPRt.
The Fine Details
This offer is only valid for bookings made today, for travel through December 31st, 2019. You must travel on the same ride as your companion, so don’t try splitting up and taking separate choppers. There’s no cancellations or modifications, so be sure you have a confirmed flight, or departure time, or risk having to pay up to change.
If you don’t want to bring a second passenger, the promo code allows you to choose to bring full sized luggage instead. Typically, these flights only allow a carry on and a small backpack, just like standard carry on rules for a flight.
Novelty Factor
I’m a life long New York, and former Los Angeles resident, and I can easily say that I found the experience worthwhile on the merit of seeing these cities from above alone. With that said, it’s certainly not sad to leave Manhattan at 3:00PM and arrive at JFK, Newark or LaGuardia at 3:10 at the latest.
When you land, you’re whisked into a black SUV which takes you directly to your terminal, where you hop out curbside feeling just a little (or a lotta) bit smug. This is the lowest offer we’ve ever seen, so if you’re in the market, why not…
