If You Already Have Elite Status With Another Airline…

This is basically a giveaway status from Emirates, albeit a nice one. Even Silver members are allowed to use business class lounges on all bookings, which makes for a very useful low tier benefit.

Before you go rushing out the door to book an eligible flight, this status has typically been easy to attain anyway. If you hold middle or top tier status with a competing airline, Emirates has generally always upgraded those requesting a status match to Silver, free of charge. Full details here.

a long shot of a restaurantBasically: if you don’t have elite status with another airline and want it with Emirates, this is a great offer which allows you to gain a valuable status benefit from one singular business or first booking. That’s excellent value. If however you do already have elite status with a competitor, it may be worth simply asking for a complimentary status upgrade.

How To Get Your Skywards Silver Elite Status Upgrade

This offer is being promoted in the UK through private travel agent channels. We recommend Adam Corin at Travel Counsellors, who has been a long time resource and friend to GSTP. We get nothing for the referral, but are happy to place you in good hands. If you want to take advantage of this easy elite status offer, email adam.corin@travelcounsellors.com with your booking needs. During the promo dates, all destinations are eligible.

Once your booking is finalized, Emirates promises to upgrade members to Silver status within 7 working days. If you don’t yet have an Emirates Skywards account, you can make one here.

  1. I haven’t really paid attention to skywards since I left the programme back in 2012 (in favor of Alaska Mileageplan.) Back then, EK skywards silver only had access to the old business class lounge in DXB; but nowadays I’m guessing they have access to all EK business class lounges?
