South Africa is nothing short of breathtaking. From surfing to safaris it’s easily one of the best places on earth to visit. Of course, the views from just about anywhere merit a bottle of wine or too as well. For roughly half the price in miles you’d usually pay, a limited time opportunity allows you to head from Europe to South Africa in a fully flat bed, enjoying lounge access and perks the entire way.
The Points You Need
You can use British Airways Avios, Iberia Avios, American Express Points, SPG Points or Chase points to get this done. You can combine points from any of these programs together to create enough Iberia Avios points, which is the program you’ll use to book.
What You’re Booking
Iberia Plus is the loyalty program of Iberia. You can instantly create their points using British Airways points, buying them in a Groupon sale, or transferring Amex, Chase or SPG Points. You’ll need to piece together 64,000 Iberia points to book round trip business class from Madrid to Johannesburg. Onward flights to Cape Town and elsewhere are easy and cheap. You’ll need to open an Iberia account first, if you don’t have one. If you’re hoping to use British Airways points to transfer into Iberia – you need to read this.
One Way Too
This is an incredible deal because it can also be booked one way. You must book these tickets by January 31st, for travel between February 1st and May 15th 2018. If you only need one way, and would prefer to book a ticket going the other direction or use another type of miles – you can. One way tickets would cost just 32,000 points. That’s less than many competitors charge for economy on this route.
How To Book
Once you’ve piled together 64,000 Iberia miles by buying the points, transferring credit card points or British Airways Avios – you’re good to go. Simply login to your Iberia Plus account, select “use my avios”, search for business class flights from Madrid to Johannesburg and book. You can also use the American Airlines website to see an entire calendar month of availability at a time. Just ignore their rates. You’re booking with Iberia, so you’re just using the American site to look up available seats using points in this phenom deal.
How much are taxes ?
Cheers.
