For the 14+ hour round trip journey between the Middle East, India and Asia, wouldn’t it be nice to enjoy a fully flat bed, with complete privacy? For about $600, you can – IF you can find a travel buddy. If you don’t, do sweat it, there’s still one other deal you can book. Oman Air, offers one of the very best business class experiences out there, with an industry leading flat bed. Here’s how you can score an amazing deal between the Middle East or India – and Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur.
The Deal
Our friends YHBU pointed out a great sale from Cairo. If you’re in or near Cairo, it could be very worthwhile to use points or a cheap flight to get yourself to the city, to take advantage of these deals. Cairo to Bangkok is just €569 round trip, and Kuala Lumpur is less than €100 more. On the longer flight from Muscat to Asia, you’ll enjoy the Apex Suite, one of the best business class seats offered in the world. This deal must be booked for two passengers. But if you’re flying from India, you don’t need two passengers. You can fly Malaysian Airlines flat beds from Delhi to Kuala Lumpur for just $580 round trip.
The Dates
These Cairo deals are available for travel between February 14th (Valentines day, by the way) and April 30th. It’s possible you could return later, but you must depart during this time. Not every date will be available, and these Cairo deals will not show up on Google Flights. The Delhi deals will, and are available in March, April and May, before returning again in August, September and October.
Booking
These deals must be booked via the Oman Air deal page, or using an online travel agency, like Kayak. The total fare would come to less than £1000 for two passengers. That’s phenomenal. These deals must be booked by February 15th, but if you wait too long, they just might sell out! Certainly not a bad Valentines Day present, if we do say so ourselves.
Cairo to BKK has always been a bargain route in business with a regular fare on Royal Jordanian of about U$700 return. This is a great Status Run for Oneworld elites, though for some reason the RJ flights between AMM-BKK-AMM seldom post and one must go through a tortuous routine to claim these flights in your OW program. RJ’s business is pretty good though since flights in both directions will be overnight, the seats are quite comfortable lay flats, and there’s not much need for a higher level of food or drink. For North Americans, a one-way award to CAI gets you positioned, and return business fares back home are bargains too, often about U$1200. Cheap enough to dump the return or use it at a later date to repeat this Status Run or fly elsewhere. And for more people in Western Europe or North America, Egypt just introduced online visa applications that are simple to process and provide the option of multi entry over the previous single entry only that had to be purchased on arrival (and took up a full passport page each!).
