Without flying, you can become a miles millionaire. Groupon is offering Iberia Avios miles, which can instantly be converted into British Airways Avios miles at a 35% discount. This allows you to buy the extra points you need for a flight using points, at excellent rates. In addition, the Iberia E-store is offering 9 Avios per dollar spent on Groupon – which you can stack onto the offer. In the sale, you can buy Avios miles off of Groupon for just 1.2 (euro) cents per point, but if you click through from the Iberia E-store (stacking the two), you’ll take the price down to 1.1 cents. That translates to 1 pence (gbp) per point – a fantastic value. Points are sold in 4000, 8000, 15,000, 20,000 and 34,000 point denominations.

For example: €249 buys 20,000 Avios. With the € bonus, you’ll end up with 22,491 Avios.

1.1 euro cents or 1 gbp per point is a stellar value. For last minute flights, upgrades or flights on partners it’s not at all hard to extract more than 1.5 cents of value for British Airways Avios points. In fact, we’ve secured 10 cents of value per point on numerous occasions. Basically- it’s hard not not to find value here, but this is an entirely personal decision. if you need to top off, this is a great and inexpensive way to do so. We’re buyers at this price, for what it’s worth.

    1. There are “users in Spain” all a round the world, for what it’s worth. Even without the bonus points, still a great deal.

  1. Getting Avios points means you have to fly BA. BA is an OK airline with terrible customer service and a FF program that keeps getting devalued. I was a loyal BA customer for nearly 15 years but got so fed up with nit-picky and unhelpful customer service that I now do what I can to avoid BA.

  2. Gilbert – Even if you do not transfer those points to BA Avios, you could easily buy two 34K packs of points for around $800 USD. That would be exactly the right amount to fly Iberia business class RT from the US to Madrid. That is about the best cash price for a RT to the EU that I have seen.

  3. how long does this take to get active? Mine shows pending and valid for 3 days. I have never purchased groupon before so getting a bit worried as I bough 34k!

also, what about buying more than one? does groupon allow that or do I need to buy the second 34k using my wife’s account?

    1. I don’t remember the exact number but if you click through to purchase it states you can buy 5 or 6 packs of the 34k

  4. If i wanted to buy for example just over 100,000 miles, would I just have to make multiple purchases? (I can’t see the option to purchase multiples in one transaction)

  5. I bought 20k Avios on 29th December and they posted in my IB+ account today, so less than a week later: not too bad especially considering it is still holiday time here in Europe.

  6. Offer no longer seems to be available despite saying its live until end of Jan! Just tried to purchase and all options are ‘unavailable’ Anybody any ideas?
