QSuites Business Class to Los Angeles
On February 2nd, 2019, Qatar Airways will upgrade the Doha-Los Angeles route to QSuites. This is an upgrade from a nice cozy business class seat experience to a revolutionary private suite. The flight spans up to 16.5 hours in each direction and the pleasure of quite literally shut out the world with your own privacy door can’t be underestimated.
The Schedule
The newly upgraded Qatar Airways flight departs Doha at 8AM and arrives in Los Angeles at 13:20 with flight number 739. The return leaves sunny Los Angeles at 15:05 and lands in Doha the following afternoon with flight number 740. Round trip tickets in business class currently retail for $7,400, so using points might feel pretty wonderful…
Amazing Points Availability
The biggest pain with using points is finding seats when you want to go. Per VFTW, availability on this newly upgraded route is amazing at the moment for travel in 2019. There are as many as (4) seats available on the same flight, which means an entire family could enjoy the special family middle seats setup, which is every bit as cool as it looks, and can even make for mid air poker games.
When And How To Book
There’s at least two seats using points available on most days In March, April and May of 2019, and four on many dates as well. To book, you can use a variety of points. British Airways Avios, AsiaMiles, Qatar Privilege Club miles and American AAdvantage miles can all be used, amongst others. You can create AsiaMiles and or British Airways Avios instantly using credit card points such as Amex Membership Rewards, Citi ThankYou or Chase Ultimate Rewards Points. American Airlines offers the most economical points rates, at 70,000 each way and these seats can now be booked online at AA.com. If you wish to use British Airways Avios, you’ll search and book directly with British Airways and the same goes for AsiaMiles.

I’m so excited for this. I recently booked LAS – ORD – DOH – JNB with the ORD – DOH route on QSuites and a hope that the LAX – DOH route would switch to using them in the future. As soon as I saw this news, I called AA and changed my booking to LAS – LAX – DOH – JNB. The total cost per person was 75,000 AA miles + $15.70. What a deal! The domestic leg was economy and I’ll take a 50 minute flight over a 3 and a half hour flight any day.
