I love a guessing game. Dubai? Hong Kong? London? New York? Nepal? If we were to play a guessing game for the location of the most expensive hotel in the world, I’m fairly certain I’d win whatever was up for grabs. Unless of course you guessed Utah, which happens to be the location of the most expensive hotel in the world. Luxury-hotels.com put together a terrific study, analyzing the lowest average rate for a basic room over a period of time for all the top hotels in the world. That’s right, the rates below are for basic rooms. The results were certainly surprising and here are the top ten, in order…

Rankings Based On Average Lowest Rate

3.   Explora Rapa Nui Easter Island, Chile $1733

My take? Truly a fascinating list. Not one Asian or Gulf property and only one obscure North American. Who would’ve guessed that an isolated celebrity jaunt in Utah would be the most famous luxury hotel in the world! And Chile with two? I suppose being on or near the end of the earth, creates a niche effect. I was very intrigued by how different the list of locations for the top ten most expensive individual hotels is versus the list of the top ten most expensive hotel cities, a study which examined the average rate for a room in all cities across the world. I don’t think you would’ve ever guessed the answer for the most expensive on that one however either!
