The single greatest thing about playing the points and miles game is that the journey begins long before check in. The thing that keeps me coming back, figuring out the next great trick and constantly in a state of creative perplexity is finding a way to make something work. That’s the question and virtually every time there will be a new varying answer.
We recently booked a trip to Singapore, with a deal starting in Stockholm. Living in New York, I need to find a way to position myself to Stockholm on a very specific day, preferably using miles and of course, preferably flying flat. At present there is no perfect answer, but in the coming weeks I will set alerts to see if seats open up, I’ll look into flights to nearby cities like Oslo or Copenhagen and I’ll find a way to connect the dots. There’s always a way, some answers just require more creativity and effort than others.
